hi

I got my iMac 21.5'' 2 days ago, and it has been working without a problem, untill today it randomly rebooted and after reaching the desktop it just rebooted again, and this loop would continue if I didnt force shut down. After leaving it off for sometime, I can work with it for about 10 minutes longer. I´m never doing anything very demanding for the computer, only a couple of applications open, nothing heavy going on. The top of the computer is hot, not enough to burn but quite warm.

I called apple support and we were checking connections and reseting SMC and PRAM and NVRAM. Called a third time and the answer I got was "uhhh...I really don't know"

I am obviously upset with this, since the computer is only 2 days old and apple support was completly unsupportive. I am thinking seriously of returning it, since it´s still younger than 14 days. I bought this on the apple online shop, if I got to an iSpot can I have this exanged in the hour? I dont really trust UPS, especially not the one that delievered this.

If any of you ever had this issue and got it fixed, please do share what you did.

If it were me, I would absolutely return it and get the 2012 model that's coming out/being announced in 3 days at WWDC. Better hardware for the same price. Only if it's convenient for you though.

i didn´t know the imac would be out in 3 days. Is this world wide lauch? I live in Poland so, sometimes apple products arrive later in certain countries in europe.

Might be waiting a little longer, but still, a week or so is worth it to wait for updated hardware.

Not so sure if it´s a week, in some contries can even be a month, this when comparing with the iPhone launch. I will indeed wait for after the WWDC, since I still have 12 days to do this. From what I read now, the price will be a bit bigger. My idea would be to return the computer for the money and use it to buy the new one, since Im afraid if returning it for another one, I would get just the same model.

update on the case:

after another random reboot and after a few seconds of desktop time, the screen turned itself off, but the computer seems to be runing, at least I hear the fans if I put my hear on top of the screen

I will return it, even if by miracle it started working properly

I bought this from the apple online store, do you guys know if at an spot I can get this dealt with faster? I also didn't really like how the UPS guy droped the box just in front of me.

I was actually examining the box it came in from UPS (not the white box, but a generic brown one) and you can clearly see it was not standing upright on the trip but lying down, probably with stuff on top of it. I'm from poland and according to the UPS tracking, this package went from czech rep. to south germany later to north germany, later to somewhere in poland and only finally to me, it changed truck at least 4 times! Im not surprised something got damaged on the way. from now on, it's physical shops for me!
