there is a html file in the folder where you run the program--this will tell you who you are working as and for which team, also some other info about the protein (+links).

The hit is not much is anything.

Only thing is you *might* might be able to see a difference in FPS's w/ folding on, but your gonna have to try hard.
 
There isn't much of a hit on the PC, but I did notice that on every PC I've put it on, the video gets a bit messed up around the system tray with little black boxes where the little program/status descriptions usually are when you move your mouse over them. But on topic, it is up to you whether or not you want to fold. A lot of it for me was to just contribute to the MacRumors team. When I am away in classes or sleeping I am not even using the computer, even though it is on all the time, so why not let it fold and give the team those extra points for the people who really want to keep competitive with the other teams out there. I like MacRumors and the general feel of everyone on here, so I'll do my little part and give the team those extra points.

go download the beta client. This is a known issue and can REALLY mess up your directx setup (not always but I am one of the few that have to reinstall directx because it reverts it to a lower version...).

They will incorporate the fix 'soon' into the non-beta.

I'm having a rough day with weird virus and my head is spinning--but I could have sworn I read a post by him during my late lunch...
 
Fold if you can...

I don't get this thread at all...If you have the means to fold then why not? If a little old lady is trying to cross the road do you help her?

I fold because I have to beautiful children and I hope that when they get older some of the nasty bugs out there will be understood and dealt with...

As soon as my dual G5 arrives that too will be folding, as will any new additions to my business...

EDIT: I dont fold on laptops as I think they get too hot...
 
I fold for my mom.

She has Parkinsons so I figure this is something that might help.

I understand if people don't want to do it, but I hope more people will do it instead of SETI or such. I used to do SETI and before that I did a distrib project on calculating pi, but those seem a little arcane compared to researching something that might cure diseases.
