And another thing... I don't understand why anybody would want a PSP to only play movies... it's still a homosexually small screen. Why not just freakin' sit down at your house and watch it? And don't be like "but sometimes I like to watch movies on the go!" because that confirms that you like to have sex with men. You DON'T need to watch feature films on a portable... the longest trip you could take in an airplane would be 13 hours to Japan from the U.S. If you can't go 13 hours without watching a full-length movie, then battery life and screen size are the least of your problems, so shove it.

HAHAHAHAHA

That is the most unique use of the topic of homosexuality that I've seen in a long time.

Exactly Burt. The iPod is not designed to solely play video. IF it were it would have a bigger screen.

This is a small media-center now in the palm of your hand.

If you have to bitch about the 2 hours (as we've all stated about the technilogical factor behind batteries/processors, etc.), don't buy one. Better yet, go buy a Dell DJ or whatever the hell it's called. And while your at it, sell your Mac and get a crappy PC. See how far you get with those pieces of crap, then come crawling back and say "OMG, I finally realize just how innovative this product is and how stupid I was."

What does selling your mac have to do with not being satisfied with the battery life of an iPod?

I can see how it would upset some people that it only lasts 2 or 3 hours pending on which version you get. For me, I think 3 hours will be just fine for me, most commutes that I take or things that i would watch would be in less than 2 hour intervals. I will also be watching mainly tv shows on the ipod so I can watch an episode or 2 and still have plenty of battery left to listen to music the rest of the way. I for one am just super excited to be able to watch video on my ipod.

I wonder how the ratio actually work in practice. After watching a couple of TV shows, how much time would actually be left for music?

That is what concerns me. I'll wait untill next year when they release the proper video iPod. Till then, I'll make do with my nano :)

I just had to say something about iGary's avatar :D

That made me laugh watching the keynote speech too.

So now you've got me wondering what Gary's post was that it got deleted. :D

Not that I otherwise care about the topic of this thread...well..I do wonder if it's real-time H264 decompression that's taking up so much battery power? Are the numbers any higher if a less computationally-intensive codec is used? Or is that really not that important?

I'd say that he's stating that if you don't apppreciate how magnificant of a machine the iPod is, you don't deserve to use Macs either.

I think I'd agree.

It's offensive and childish, there's nothing unique about his post.

Actually, it wasn't meant for you to overanalyze and have a hissy fit over. Good gosh, loosen up. You don't need to freak out on little comments in some sort of "I'm an intellectual and I'm above everyone and everything, or at least I try to be" way.

how long til one of the third party suppliers comes out with a battery the same dimensions as the ipod video, but less than a 1/4" thick...fits nice and sleek on the back, and adds 5-6 hours more video life...

That's an interesting question. You might not be able to find that exact thickness or that exact capacity, but I would assume that the extra batteries for older iPods would still work as long as they still use the dock connector, eh?

if there is in fact a lower power mode, all I can say is this could be one awesome pair...

One thing that no one has pointed out...

PSP... no video out!

iPod + Universal dock (+ remote )= no battery life issues and quite a collection of video. Sure it's not DVD quality but since when is perfect quality a big concern. Someone who travels could keep up to date on their shows quickly and easly with a simple sync ( or torrents that I'm positive will pop up ). Carry a few movies and other video entertainment without having to guess what will be availible at the hotel/motel/conference/....

OH... and powerpoint slideshows to boot! This can be written off as the buisnessperson's friend because of all the other uses. Photographers, presenters, people that just travel alot, vacations, .... it really does expand the usefulness.

It has nothing to do with being intellectual or above anyone or anything. You wouldn't have posted something about how "insert race here" it was and how it will make you "insert racial slur here", but that would have been the same thing.
