If I buy 2 iphones (for me and my wife), can I synch both on one iMac. Do we share the same library. Any functional limitations?

Same as with multiple iPods: no problem.
It would be rather stupid of Apple to limit that number of iPhones.
I'd suggest to work with different playlists if your music taste doesn't match. 🙂
