Same with my wife. She's gone through ranks and is now an area supervisor and she makes the same amount of money I do and I've been a network admin for about 8 years. Actually she does a bit better because she also gets a free iphone, ipad, and car!

Thats awesome. I've been an Area Supervisor for the last 9 years. Recently promoted to Director of Operations for a 9 store Owner/Operator. Started in highschool and worked my way up, pretty fast at that. Its a very viable career choice if one is willing to put the effort and care into the job.

LOL....McDonald's was never meant to be a career....

Right. How about WalMart workers or the rest of the working poor? Is everybody supposed to get the job you have sitting on your fat @$$ complaining about other people making a living wage?

I work at McDonald's. Just tell them you're paying with your card and then hold your phone over the card reader. Every McDonald's with these card readers can do it, they do not differentiate on the register screen between credit/debit and using Apple Pay or any other NFC payment method.

I read the OP's post as though he was just put through some great injustice in life. One day into Apple Pay and you're forced to pay the "old fashioned" way? Damn...my heart bleeds for you.

Please tell me which part of my post suggested in any way I was suffering an injustice? Whatever makes you feel better.

Just used Apple Pay at McD's and it worked great. Cashier said the total, I told her I would be paying with Credit and pulled out my phone. She started to ask, "with your phone?!", and almost instantly the transaction had processed.

False.

I used Apple Pay at a Burger King last night to test it out. They do not have official Apple Pay support - it just worked.

Home Depot too.

Apple Pay works anywhere NFC payments are accepted.

Huh - fair enough.

I ordered and told the cashier I'd like to use Apple Pay. She said, "Oh we don't take that yet. I wish we did." There was another customer behind me so I didn't press. When I was waiting for my food the manager was in front of me tending to something so I asked her about it. She said, "Oh I don't think our system is updated for it yet. It will be soon."

Anyone want to weigh in here? A lot of misinformation and poor information around about Apple Pay.

I used it on Monday the day it came out. I saw they had a NFC reader so without mentioning of Apple Pay, I laid my phone near the reader and it took it.

I made McDonald's my career and I'm doing just fine.

Half the jobs in this world were never meant to be careers yet people do them. I used to work at a Pizza Hut where some of the drivers were there for 20+ years. They do it because it pays well through tips and it pays their bills. A job is a job. Some of those guys paid mortgages on that job.

Seems pretty cringe asking McDonalds employees if they accept 'Apple Pay'.

Rather than embarrasing yourself in front of the people behind you who probably want lunch, why don't you just whip out your debit card like everyone else in society?
Why should I use my debit card when the phone works just the same? I've used it in several stores and never asked if they excepted it. I just put it up to the terminal and paid. Today I left my debit card at home because my wife lost hers and needed the card and was i able to buy gas and a drink from Walgreens. In the past I would have had to go to the bank to take out cash. Today I didn't have to worry about not having any money.

LOL read what you wrote pal. But hey, if that's your only takeaway from this thread then I'm not sure what to say.

Oh, so you can't cite anything I said. Ok.

Nothing I wrote suggested what you said, nor is it how I feel.

Are you waiting for me to quote you? Don't be weird. Read this thread, you're discontent is seriously misguided.

She loves to start fights here and I have been MR member (different names, too) since mid-2000 and in those cases, don't fight against them.

I can see you're right.

I'm not waiting because there's nothing for you to quote.

LOL....McDonald's was never meant to be a career....

yeah there's only a finite number of skilled (read: well paying jobs) and more humans to fill those jobs. So let's hypothetically have it that every non-teen employee of fast food gets some kind of skill set to get them a better career, where are all these extra jobs going to come from?

One of the largest growing numbers of fast food employees; the elderly.

How many accounts do you have on here?

I was originally jefhatfield and second oldest remaining MR member (from June 2000) and I finally changed it to 63dot some years back so I have just the 63dot account these days as all we can now have is one account.

GoCubsGo was jessica.

Many older members here have had different names but for a long time now it's been pretty stable with people hanging onto their monikers.

That being said, I do agree with GoCubsGo/jessica about 99% percent of the time on most issues both political and/or Apple related, but not so much when it becomes a flamewar.
-jefhafield ;)

It worked for me on Monday when i told McD drivethru that i wanted to pay with my phone. I didn't mention apple pie or apple pay.

leaving apple pay out of the equation is the best option..

So did they hold out a nfc terminal? Just trying to figure out how the drive thru process works

You are paying with Apple Pay, but to them you are just paying with a standard of NFC payment... so whether or not they take NFC payments is all that matters. You shouldn't have to ask to pay with apple pay, you just put your phone to the terminal and that's it. If you don't have access to the terminal, you can't pay with your phone.

Went to a mcd last night for the first time using Apple Pay. I just took out the phone right after the cashier told me the total and paid without any issue. The best part was the look at the cashier. :D

Oh gotcha, right I think her name was iamjessica or something wasn't it? I think I saw that back when I was lurking, or maybe around the time I joined.

I tried using it twice at McDonalds it worked the first time that was on the same day apple pay released and the second time I tried it I was in the drive threw but it seemed they were confused so it seems to work better inside then drive threw.

Yes they did. I went to another McD around 3 am and they said it was attached to their POS so they couldn't hang it out the window.

All McD should have the feature to hold it out for the consumer though
