2 part: Home server and email

So yesterday my google account filled up. 16.8GB went poof. Didn’t have any clue that google drive and photos used my gmail space.

is there a home server solution where I can use google photos on my own server or have my own photo/video backup there? Could I also access this server from anywhere to use for important file storage like Dropbox?

2) is there a way to migrate email over? I have a 1TB email I setup through a service that’s $29/yr with my own domain and wouldn’t mind just transferring everything over to it.

google email is not optimal to keep your life story on.

Your easiest solution to your problem (and not your home server question) is to purchase more space at Google. I think $20/year will get you 100 more GB.
