I have 2 phone numbers on my iPhone. If I add a cellular plan to my Apple Watch, will the messages app on the AW show text messages for both phone numbers? Only 1 of the phone numbers will be on the same network as the Apple Watch. Both numbers are connected to iMessage.

Yes. You'll get iMessages from both numbers if your phone is turned on. The phone must be turned on because the Watch can only maintain one active cellular connection. If you get a message to the inactive number, it must be received by your phone and relayed to iMessage. Here is the relevant quote:

"When your Apple Watch is connected to your iPhone, you can get calls and messages from both plans...

When your Apple Watch is away from your iPhone and connected to cellular, you can get calls and messages from your active plan. If your iPhone is turned on, even if it isn't nearby, you can get messages and notifications about calls from your other plan. If you respond to a call, your watch automatically calls back from your active plan. If you respond to an SMS message, your watch automatically texts back from the plan that you received the message on. You can respond to iMessages as long as there's an active data connection from any plan."

Thanks for the response - super helpful!

This line was interesting:

So, distance doesn't matter? I can leave my phone at home and receive texts on both numbers at another location far away (work, gym) as long as my phone at home is on? I guess that's iMessage doing the relay?

That's exactly how I think it works.
Do you know this would also work if you had standalone service for the Apple Watch. Verizon Pre-paid has 2 options for connecting cellular service, one where you pair your number but this requires you to have a phone line with Verizon or standalone where you get a new number for the AW:

If I get the standalone service that gives me a new number for the AW itself and then add this new number to iMessage, will I be able to get notifications for the 2 numbers on my iPhone?
