2 Questions; AppleCare, Left fan

Hello. Today, the 18th of May, my 1 year of AppleCare warranty ends. My question is, can I still extend my AppleCare the same day when the free one ends?

Also, when I got my (2010) 17" Macbook Pro last year, it made awfully loud noises. I thought it was the 7200-rpm HDD, but my friend's MBP with the same HDD doesn't make noises at all, so I found out that the noise came from the lower-left fan. How much do Apple charge for fixing this? It's in situations like this I need AppleCare..
