This morning when I found out that the white iPhones are being delayed even further, I have finally decided to go to the dark side and buy the black iPhone.
I will most probably be selling the black iPhone to buy the white when it's released.
1. Will the Sim Card from the black iPhone work with the white one with no problems?
2. When selling the black iPhone, will it still be unlocked- using a sim won't lock it any way will it?

1. Yes.

2. Your Black iPhone will be "locked" in the sense that no one without an AT&T microSIM card and an active account will be able to use it. Unless you take extraordinary steps to unlock it, and I'm not aware of whether that is currently possible.

I'm in the UK, so if for example I used an O2 sim card and then the new owner wanted to put in an Orange sim card, would that work or would that phone be tied to O2?
Thanks.

There have been some reports of an unlocked iPhone 4 being locked to the first carrier's sim card when inserted in the phone. (mostly happening in the UK)

It is suppose to remain unlocked regardless of what sim card you put in there. Not sure if the carriers are forcing the phone to be locked or what... but if you buy it unlocked it should remain unlocked.

Okay thanks very much.
One more question, where can I buy a micro sim card, I can't find details on any of the UK provider's sites.

Most likely in Apple Store or the carriers store, sorry don't live in the UK so can't tell ya more on that :(

There are also reports that you can take a regular SIM card and trim it to fit in the iPhone 4's micro tray. YMMV.

that could only happen if you bought it on contract or on payandgo, if you bought it sim free and the carrier locked it that would be pretty much illegal, like they are stealing part of your device.

just go to any networks store they will give you one for free on contract or free with some credit on payandgo, also you can just trim any sim card down and it will work.
