I have 2 files TrueCrypt 7.1a Mac OS X(2).dmg and TrueCrypt 7.1a Mac OS X.dmg both files have a sha256 value of 04db58b737c05bb6b0b83f1cb37a29edec844b59ff223b9e213ee1f4e287f586. Yet one will install and the other provides an error "Error truecrypt requires Mac OS 10.4 or later" I am running Yosemite 10.10.5.

Why is this occurring? The SHA hash says they are identical files and I expect them to both perform exactly the same as their is only 1 SHA256 value for each file.

The problem was with security and privacy settings. Because Truecrypt is not a recognized application by Apple it acted differently for one file over the other. I suspect because I had already tried to install the previous file.
