Very cool software. I am giving it a shot now using their trial, but I am noticing just one monitor is emitting sound. Does this seem right? I set it up this way in hopes of having the left monitor use all of its speakers for the left channel and the right monitor all of its speakers for the right channel.

Hmm...this is exactly the setup I have on my machine! Do you have "Loopback Audio" set as your out monitor from the system audio settings? That would be my first guess. Apologies if this is borderline "turn it off and back on again" advice. If you have everything seemingly set correctly, I would reach out to Rogue Amoeba support. They are super helpful and respond very quickly.

I figured it out. In the options drop down one monitor had its volume at a significantly lower percentage. I set them both to 50% as I toy around with things and... it works as expected now. This is pretty slick. I will definitely be purchasing a full license.

Perfect! A bit pricy, but as a percentage of the total cost of two of these things, a drop in the bucket. Lunar for brightness syncing across each monitor is also another good one I have found. It does seem a bit misbehaved sometimes after the displays sleep and wake back up again, but unfortunately there are not many good alternatives I’ve found. And for basic use it’s free!

I dont understand the point of this setup. I use the Display and a 16" under it to get 2 screens. I tried doing this with two 32" displays and found it annoying and unnatural to look to the side. The strain on my neck isnt worth it and I avoided looking at the display on the side. Maybe if you had a Display on each side Vertically.

So you use the keyboard and trackpad on your 16"? Did you get the height adjustable stand? If so, safe to assume the 16" fits underneath the monitor?

to make the 16" practical, you'd need the height adjustable monitor or it will overlap. In my case, I have a nice glass and steel riser for monitor but I also used the MacBook Pro box to increase the height of display temporarily. The MBP box is the perfect height to make them both fit. I see you can get 4.2" more height with the adjustable stand so maybe thats a good idea for the 16". I jsut didn't want to spend $400 on that, knowing ill always keep it at the same height

Yes I use the MacBook keyboard and trackpad. I also have the full size magic keyboard and trackpad but I have a heard time using it since its all too big and I prefer the trackpad under keys without moving hand. The MBP layout if more convenient and solid without moving around. Also I enjoy using the 16" inch screen and can look up and down with eyes only without moving head. I can play a movie on 27" as I do something on 16" or I can reference 2-3 documents without moving head around. I have other monitors but I don't use them in this setup because its just not practical and I've tried to make it practical so I often wonder why people would invest in such a setup. The only thing I can think of is someone having stocks open and dedicated to that side monitor for quick referencing.

I programmed the F keys to jump through desktops. Each F key has its own program. I find this to be more convenient in this setup than to have additional monitors.

Personally, I go ASD on the left, MBP in the middle, ASD on the right. I write software for a living, so usually I'll have the editor on one ASD, documentation on the other, and some infrequently used program like Teams in the middle on the smaller screen. It works really well for me since usually I'm focused on one thing at a time and not rapidly switching between any of the screens at any time. Different strokes as they say. Just glad to see people enjoying these things!

I’m a software developer too. I find the two displays to be working quite nicely for my day to day. It took about an hour to get accustomed (or re accustomed) to having two monitors at home. I don’t think I can go back.

I keep my editor on the right in full screen mode and the left for all other things - slack, email, etc.

I've come from a 34" Ultrawide to two studio displays. I am sitting in the middle with the two displays angled slightly like an inverted V which is something you've said you're tried.

I've settled on this arrangement as primarily, I'll have two very different workflows on each screen, or work for different clients on each screen. That way, I have a physical separation which was something I was struggling with on the Ultrawide - I guess it just makes sense to my ageing brain. I then have different spaces with other general apps I'm using on each one, collected by type. So I have a space with all my messaging apps on it.

The two monitors also helps for video calls, again, I can do a call on either monitor using the inbuilt speakers and mics, while keeping another monitor free for taking notes. I'm really impressed by the quality of the speakers and mics for this purpose, although its a bit strange that macOS doesn't label the monitors according to their layout in system preferences.

I also have my Mac Studio in the middle which makes for nice and easy access to ports, but I do wonder about stashing it under the desk somehow.

Got these 2 stands on Etsy and they're perfection for a non height adjustable studio display!
