I saw this embedded into today's MacBook announcement:

"MacBook Pro with M5 Pro now comes standard with 1TB of storage, while MacBook Pro with M5 Max now comes standard with 2TB. And the 14-inch MacBook Pro with M5 now comes standard with 1TB of storage."

For anyone buying a Pro Max, are we being forced to pay more for 2TB of storage, or, since it's now standard, are we getting 2TB for the price of last year's 1TB?

(waiting another year for the M6 Pro Max but asking nonetheless)

The 16 inch M4 Max started at 3500 USD, while the M5 Max starts at 3900, so it is definitely more expensive.
keep in mind, the M5 Max now starts at 2TB, whereas M4 Max started at 1TB base [which is the one i have].

At least this would be a good indication of the Mac Studio, which would be a much better proposition now in the future. I'm glad apple did not jack up RAM/SSD pricing unlike Windows/DIY counterparts which is very extreme now and pushed me straight onto Mac for good [workflow reasons]
