I'm tempted. The seller initially had it listed for $2400. I offered $2200, but he countered with $2300. Is this a good deal considering the rumors of updated displays being around the corner? He said one has some slight scuff marks, the other is like new, and both have no dead pixels.
That is a great deal if you have a graphic card the supports them (Quadro FX 4500 or the ATI X1900, im assuming these would be hooked up to the smae machine) There are rumours as to new displays but no one really knows whatll be comming... Id say grab these.
Heck if that's the case, I might just sell both and make a quick 700 buckaroos. Well, I'm meeting up with the seller tomorrow afternoon. The monitors are at his Studio, and he offered me to test them out before commiting to purchase.
I doubt it will be that soon, I dont think well see them before WWDC, keep in mind im more innacurate than the poeple who post g5 powerbooks next tuesday a year ago) Id say garb em, sell one and use the oher until the new ones are out and decide than if you need to upgrade. I doubt that the current 30" will loose That much of thee value when he new ones come out and geting it for around 1200 i think youll break even or stil lhave made a slight profit.
you need to ask him what kind of work he does, how much hour per day he uses them, and how old they are. if he's a heavy user, you'll see the screens with really bad backlights. it's even worse if you're going to use them for some works that need better quality screens. think carefully!
That is what I would do. There is no use having an extra 30" when you could get lots of money out of it. I would sell em both and keep the profit. Buy a new 30" when it comes out if you really want one. Think about it, you can make almost 1,000 dollars if you play this right.
His line of work is videography. He mentioned that both monitors were purchased separately. I'm aware that Apple came out with two versions of the 30" ACD, with the current one having a higher contrast ratio. To find out the exact purchase date, I requested for the SN# and the Model# for both monitors.
I agree, I doubt that the current 30" ACDs will lose much of their value even when the new revision comes out.
The seller just contacted me. Based on the SN#, one was purchased 10 months ago. The other is missing 2 digits on the SN#(underneath the footprint). Any other way of finding out the SN if you don't have the box?
Well it might be a long shot but if he has the original shipping note or sales receipt Apple often print the serials on those, at least they do with the computers they sell.
Here's my setup. Even if I go with a dual setup, what ta heck am I going to do with the extra monitor?
Christ, that is friggin sweet! I say hook one up to the bathroom wall and iTV some porn to that biatch. But seriously, did he give you a reason why he's getting rid of three 30" ACDs? And why was he so patient in waiting for you to decide whether to buy them or not when so many other people would have offered a lot more money?
It was a first-come-first-serve type of deal. He was out of town for the past few days, and he just didn't have the time to respond to the numerous emails that he received. His reason for selling, "I'm downsizing." With three 30" ACDs, you think?!
