2 x Thunderbolt Cinema - Can all speakers be active?

Hi there.

After looking through the thread where people post pictures of their cinema display setup I have decided to add 2 displays to my MBP. I have just ordered the displays and the thunderbolt cables.

I have a question.

Currently, my MBP routes sound from the line out - into an Apple Hi-Fi.

Once I have the 2 displays attached to my MBP - I will disconnect the Apple Hi-Fi.

Now - will the speakers and subs on BOTH of the Cinema Displays be active?

Is this possible?

I know that would mess up the stereo separation. So, can you just use the left speaker on one of the displays and the right speaker on the other, with both subs active?


Any input would be appreciated.

Yup, but open Audio MIDI Setup, then make a new output device and select both of them.

Can anybody please confirm that if you select both monitors as audio output - the left monitor balance can be set to left only, and the right monitor to right only?

You can't control individual speaker balance in Midi Output setup.
