Got my iPhone 12 yesterday and set it all up, when I went to bed the battery was 20%, woke up in the morning and it had died over night.

background app refresh was switched off, bluetooth was off as I haven’t got round to pairing my watch yet.

No photos to sync as I only have a few anyway so it only took a few mins to complete.

Updated it to 14.2 as well.

This does not sound to good as by contrast any other mobile I’ve had only drops 3 -5% over night.

Anyone else having battery issues.

You can check what apps used the battery during that time.
Mine goes down 0.5% at night in 7 hours.

Thanks, wow 0.5% is amazing, I checked and it only mentions 17% safari and 10% home and Lock Screen, but they were like that before I went to bed as I made a point of checking what the apps were using etc.

Depending on what you have in your iCloud account, your phone could have still be indexing and syncing your iCloud account. It could also have been using battery to re-acquire signal, if are in a low cell area etc. Where you using any apps that have permission for Location Services? Did you have any apps running in the background? It isn’t uncommon for the phone to use more battery the first day or two (max) after a new set up. If it happens past 2 days, check your settings. If you restored from backup, you may want to consider setting up as new.

Ok thanks for your feedback.

There is not much cloud syncing going on really, safari bookmarks, a few photos as mentioned, cell wise I can see the repeater from my house so always have maximum signal anyway, location services most of the apps that I ran for the first time I selected to use location only while the app is running, but I will check this in more detail. I never leave any apps running in the background, I’m always in auto pilot closing them down. The phone was set up as new as I was coming from an Android phone. I will see how the next few days go. Thanks.

Do you have Dropbox installed?

Give it a couple of days to settle, it's likely something indexing or still working away in the background.

If it doesn't stop doing this, toggle on airplane mode and test. Then try a fresh install and failing that contact Apple. But this is fairly common when people buy a new iPhone. However leaving it at 20% to last the night may be fine normally, but isn't the best option. Even leaving it charging on a 5w Apple brick overnight would be preferable IMO.

ok thanks, yes hopefully it will settle down as you say, I thought it would be ok leaving it at 20% over night to be honest as I assumed it would only drop by a small percentage.

See the flat section off the charger overnight. No loss.

Last night it went down by 5% overnight.

That’s more like it, not got Bluetooth on yet though. This normally stays on for watch and car pairing etc. So will be interesting to see how it fairs then.
