How do I clear out my iphone instagram cache without deleting (or offloading) and reinstalling?
You can’t! Android has had this feature for like a decade

It’s such an odd oversight

Sometimes I think Apple tries to avoid implementing features like that to keep things simple, but it just makes things a worse and more complex experience. I hate that this happens so many times

Deleting TikTok is a great idea, even if you don't need the storage.
I did it a few weeks ago…

Do you realize Instagram is not an Apple app ? Blame Meta for the lack of this option, not Apple.

Yeah, just TRY to delete all the large attachments on your phone using that interface from 'Storage', I dare you. Not only is it insanely tedious because you have to select things one-by-one, but you will have deleted absolutely everything and it will still tell you there's 10GB more to go. The storage interface on iOS is the single worst thing about it.

Also: never, ever turn on the auto-offloading feature. It will offload apps that you use every day but don't OPEN every day. For instance, I have an app from my bank that alerts me when a transaction has gone through. I look at those notifications all the time. I've caught fraud because of those notifications. But that doesn't count as USING it.

It will, of course, offload apps that you find useful, but only rarely have to open. You cannot pin an app and say 'please never ever remove this under any circumstances'.

I bought a 256GB iPhone 16 Pro this year because my 64GB iPhone 11 was impossible to wrangle. I may have actually kept it one more year if not for the storage problems, but 64GB was absolutely untenable and miserable.

Why would I blame Instagram for a missing operating system feature that OS missing from almost every app except the ones that add it custom

It should be in the system settings Storage panel

You’re wrong. It doesn’t have to be a system setting. It is an app setting. Several apps has this option in their internal settings. Cache is organized in a different way depending on the app itself.

That’s not the way it should be. On Android you can go to an app in the storage section and in addition to deleting it you can remove the cache

That’s a good user experience

Then switch to Android if you like it more 🤷🏻‍♂️
Two different android phones don’t even have the same setting options… a very good user experience 🤦🏻‍♂️

Anyone
Hello, if I use the Review large attachments function and delete attachments from Messages that comes from Photos or Files - do they still stay in Photos or Files or do they get deleted from there too?
Does anyone know?
