It seems like they screwed up big time, whether or not they meant to screw up or it was a genuine screw-up has yet to be seen but a $2000 cell bill is asinine if you didn't use the data they said you did. However, were you in contract when you cancelled your service? If you were in contract you might be subject to at least several hundred dollars of the bill with the insane cancellation fees.

It's hardly a fair comparison, but Alltel charged my family account about $10 for a long call that was never made (and could never have been made for that matter). Errors happen, and sometimes they're ludicrously expensive ones.

After some two weeks of calling, complaining and being a pain in their a$$es, the situation has been resolved. Even though they could not tell me how and when I spent the data, they were nice enough to re rate the whole bill, giving me the chance to pay only for a prorated unlimited data plan for the month. The bill went from $2000 to $250, including cancellation fees and what not.

Issue resolved! :D

Yes, verizon isn't great about bills. They charged me for a ton of text messages- yet I don't even text! I disabled text messaging in the plan yet I still get charged for them! I've called them when they appear on the bill and explain that I did not do the text messages and they took the charge off the next month's bill...

Good luck!

Edit: Yay you got it resolved!
