i have a 3gs, and i was jailbroken on 3.1.3 i was trying to restore to 4.0.1. i had shsh's saved with cydia. last night i put my iphone into dfu mode, i saw the connect to itunes logo on my iphone. i had edited my host file on my macbook pro.
i wonder if i was supposed to enter dfu mode. or if i just should have plugged my iphone in to my mac and option clicked restore in itunes and then chose the fw 4.0.1 ipsw file which i had downloaded?
any way itunes was saying my iphone needed to be restored, so i option clicked and chose the ipsw file for 4.0.1. everything was going good, until itunes said preparing iphone for restore. it was taking to long so i disconnected my iphone and that was when i got the 2005 error.
i am going to try again, i have wifi now. but it seems like my iphone is stuck in dfu mode.
any help would be appreciated.
