New MNF crew

Any thoughts on the new MNF crew?

I'm not a big fan of Theismann and I'm not really aware of Tirico but I'm looking forward to seeing Tony Kornheiser.

I like PTI (particularly since they occasionally give an nod to their international audience - they said goodbye to us with various Scottish/English flags when for a while it looked like the UK channel showing PTI wasn't renewing their contract) - and an MNF special from the site of MNF will be amusing on Mondays.

Theismann sucks. That's all I need to know. (Kornheiser seems a decent fellow from when I've watched PTI, but I've never heard him in a booth working a game. Ditto with Tirico.)

Looks like there's a good chance Michaels will be reuniting with Madden on NBC's new SNF, so SNF is going to be the new MNF.

I like Madden 'cause he says "boom" and "bang" and stuff. :)

I just heard a bit of Tony on the Dan Patrick show. Tony said that he hates to travel and everything about working the Monday Night game seemed wrong for him. But as a sports writer, this is an opportunity that he would never get again. It will be very interesting to see how this works out. I too HATE Joe in the booth.

More than how this team works, I just hope for some awesome Monday night games. If the games are good, I could care less about what the announcers talk about. I remember a few years ago, Monday Night had a ton of great games. It was the year with the Jets comeback and the Antonio Freeman catch. That year was awesome.

I did think it was mildly ironic (meant to put it in my first post) that Wilbon is the one that travels to football games and Tony never goes since he hates flying. I wonder if Madden takes the cruiser with him to NBC? Or whether Tony gets to rename it the Kruiser

The Madden Cruiser is a standard part of Madden's contract... he'll be taking it with him to NBC. He had it when he was with Fox, as well.

Good in college doesn't mean good in the NFL. Ty Detmer was one of the greatest college QB's ever, but he didn't exactly light it up in the NFL. ;)

Lethal

that is so very true

remember vinny testaverde...i expected more, oh well :)

montana was not a legendary college qb, but slightly better than average most would say...but he went on to become the third highest rated passer of all time in the nfl behind kurt warner (#2) and steve young (#1)...who knew? he wasn't big, didn't throw a long pass, and could get injured easily

also jerry rice didn't exhibit skills in college that would make one believe he would be the biggest offensive threat in the history of the nfl...oh, what college did jerry go to? ...and was that a real college?

also kurt warner, while good, did not look like one could predict he would go on to the nfl and win a superbowl

i don't look to the heisman college people as the future statistical leaders in the nfl...it's definitely a different ballgame in the nfl

i was once told by a successful businessman/professor...it's the fifth round draft picks, the quiet ones, the college dropouts, and the C+ students who will go on to rule the world

i think bill gates was all those...and oh, maybe a 39th round draft pick for waterboy!

I bet tony has a bigger problem staying up especially in a west coast game for the whole thing ... hehe I think he hates a lack of sleep more than traveling but its been obvious he doesn't travel like wilbon does in PTI
