2006 Grammys: U2 and Mary J. Blige

Driving home from work today, I heard that U2 and Mary J. Blige were going to be performing together on the Grammys, so I made it a point to catch at least that performance.

Needless to say, she was awful! I was expecting her at any minute her shove Bono off the stage and frontline the whole performance of One. That and her screaming and jumping around like a maniac really ruined what could have been a good duet. I understand getting into the song during the a performance, but she really was really ridiculous.

It was almost like I was watching a SNL skit. (And Bono didn't seem to thrilled about it either).

What did everyone else think?

Missed U2 and Mary performance, but I just caught Jay-Z, Linkin Park, and then Paul McCartney joining in! I thought they did great but I love them all so much so I might be biased!

Lord, Fantasia sounded more like Tina Turner----that voice is so more irritating though! I hadn't heard it since she won AI 2 years ago so it freaked me out!

I waited all night for LP and Jay-Z. And then Paul McCartney comes out of nowhere. Good show.

Mariah's performance was AMAZING. Great vocal performance.

She's won 3 Grammy's tonight, bringing her total up to 5. Unfortunately, these were not televised and she's lost 2/3 "big ones." I'm so proud of her wins -- but We Belong Together was the EASILY the biggest song this year, and it's been snubbed TWICE! Figures, Mariah's been snubbed at the Grammy's the past 15 years

Now I LOVE Christina Aguilera, and of course she looked and sang fabulous---but did she ever sing any words in that song??? It was a lot of yeeeaaahhhhh, oooooohhhhhs--it kind of annoyed me! I still cannot wait for her new album--she is long overdue for some new songs!!

ALBUM OF THE YEAR....U2. uhmm is Kanya West going to cry?? THe camera glanced on him for a sec looking pretty stressed...oh well ya can't win them all!! Not that thrilled about U2 winning though! I like them but I never actually bought this whole album so I have no idea if it was that great!!

It all started with Little League Baseball where little Johnny and Melvin had to get their trophies too, even though they mostly sat the bench, played one inning in right field and cried whenever they struck out? Just a guess.

Christina is a good singer the problem is that she over sings which makes her sound like an American Idol contestant. As for Kelly Clarkson, Im surprised that she has lasted and actually has talent.
