What happened to the days when a Grammy was given to people with talent. Now all they do is give it to who ever sells the most. Why all the achievement awards that used to be a sacred thing and now they are giving them out every 5 minutes.

Those days are long gone. The Grammy's do serve one purpose though......the winners are artists that I can obviously avoid spending money on. So that eliminated music for me to think about.

So U2 scores....again.

U2 is so incredibly horrid that their win just proves that it takes nothing to win a Grammy. Kanye should have won even though I would never listen to his album in it's entirety, but he IS talented.

Sir Paul McCartney did a song with friggin' Linkin Park??????

*dies*

Even more depressing thought: One day, I'm going to watch a Paul McCartney biography on television and his duet with Linkin Park might get mentioned as a highlight of his dwindling career.

Ok, That is ridiculous....it was a nice performance and more of a surprise than anything else....Abstract, you are reading way too much into it. It was not that big of a deal, but I did enjoy it because personally I like ALL 3 artists, but I assure you it will definitely not be considered the highlight of his career. If anything it meant more to Jay-Z and Linkin Park to get to sing with the old guy! ;)

Moohriah Scarey is just horrifying. It's so obvious that the weight-gain is due to the anti-depressant psycho drugs she's on. Not to mention that you could dock a battleship in her clevage. Ugh...don't even get me started on that so-called "7 octave" voice.

BLEH!

The Recording Academy must hate black people.

Being a fan, you know I will have to make a comment.....how much have you seen or heard about Mariah besides tabloids and gossip here and there? Of course she is not my best friend and we are not sitting at the spa together sipping latte's or anything, but I have watched her documentaries during her world tours and tons of interviews with this woman. I see nothing but a very strong person and very down to earth. She is so grateful to her fans and I have never seen a celeb be so kind to so many people! She really doesn't seem fake at all. And regardless of whether you like her music, the woman is in fact very talented and I can respect her a lot for just being herself and not care what people think. She has been more openly honest about her shortcomings than most people in the spotlight!

And as much as I have made fun of the movie Glitter and as sad as it is to say this, thank goodness it was made because it is the only movie that anyone could watch after 9/11.

also i was about to say that country music was very pronounced this year compared to years past.. but then thats probably because the cma's have really caught on recently then before.

Country music could mostly go away and that would be fine with me, but I think I'm in the steadily decreasing minority. Don't get me wrong, there are definitely a few good country songs, but it just seems like a lot of the country these days is like electronica-country (i.e, Shania Twain with the highly digitized-sounding voice) or overly twangy. I like middle of the road country better or something like Nickel Creek. And what's with these Country-Hip Hop mixes going on? I did NOT like the Tim McGraw/Nelly duet that came out a while back. It left much to be desired--especially the music video I saw playing over and over again while waiting at Heathrow for our connecting flights to and from India.

more of a clint black fan myself.. he's got his own record label now and he keeps it pretty neo-traditional country i feel.

I did not see it but a local radio station played it a couple of times. The same radio station also had Bryan Adams manager on for his weekly interview who was at the grammys representing Michael Buble.

His opinion was that Bono should never sing One again because he could never do as good a job as Mary J Blige did. The same was said by the two disc jockeys.

Bono was heard backstage to have said that he could not believe what a remarkable job Mary J had with the song.

I kinda liked it to. I think that that a good song is a good song and it is always nice to hear another artist put their touch to it.
