....yes you read it correct. Still rocking with an old 2006 Core Duo Mini, but recently it's started to have spinning beach balls once either a wired lan or wireless is enabled (takes a minute or so, but is consistent in it's lockup - a reboot clears it - until it's connected to the network again)

I've reinstalled Snow Leopard on it, but still the same. Just wondering if anyone has experienced anything similar? Do the networking components get overwritten during an update?

I've tried different routers/cables as well.
 
Might be iTunes, Software update, or Mail having trouble calling home
Some such request may have required a synchronous response in Snow Leopard.
Try turning off or signing out of every internet reliant service you have, before connecting to network.
