Massive pc nerd here, starting to show an interest in macs

Think my wifi card is screwed, bought mac as faulty, it would crash occasionally and had no wifi icon, install 10.6.4, updated to 10.6.8, no more crashing but still no wifi, which was fine at the time

One day I did the remove battery and hold power for 6 secs trick trying to fix a problem where it would never sleep, and when it booted wifi was working for first time in over 3 years

Anyway mac froze after an hour and when i forced a reboot wifi was gone again, repeating power button trick fixes it, but it will only last a few hrs before it locks up whole pc and needs a forced shutdown

Anything else i can try?

Done and sorted,

thanks

i had a few old dell wireless cards and i was delighted to see one was an apple compatibal card

Next problem is right hinge is loose, will start a new thread if i run into problems
