Sorry About That

Ahh, okay. I'm with you now. Sorry, didn't make the connection. Thanks for the clarification. But are you talking about ONLY OTA programming?

Yikes, I'm not sure how you made THAT leap, MM. Given your measured responses on this thread, I'm a little surprised at your ability to know what I watch. My $3200 XBR Sony might disagree with you, too! ;)

Let's just say that the current state of network programming on broadcast (local affiliate) TV has really put me off watching much "TV". However, as a film buff (who suffered through the Betamax v. VHS battles AND who owns a close to a thousand laserdisks and DVD's), you might say that I have more than a passing interest in picture quality. So, "....not a serious viewer who really cares about the quality of what you watch" might be a tad harsh, no? ;)
My bad. Sorry. But are you talking about an OLD analog XBR 'cause they really are history?

Yes I am talking about ONLY OTA programming. I have no cable I have no satellite. I watch PBS HD, FOX HD, CBS HD, NBC HD and non HD CW. We have no ABC in the air here.

Yeah, the "top of the line" 36" flat tube monitor that turned out to be a POS. Had to replace the tube once and it still isn't right, but that's another story and we're boring the Mac Pro folks by now. If I hadn't lost my job a few months ago, I'd be looking at a replacement set by now, but life just keeps getting in the way, 'ya know? So, I'm saving my few pennies for the Mac Pro desktop updated box......there....back on topic! ;)

If I wasn't SO hooked on the History Channel and Discovery HD, I'd gladly give up cable and save the money. However, I use my cable company for my HS internet access. Plus, living in storm-tossed Florida, I kinda like the Weather Channel, too!

Quite frankly I don't see the connection between all this yapping about recording TV and waiting for the new Mac Pro.

Private Messages or a new thread perhaps?

Oh come on... We're on page 56 and there hasn't been any new or substantive information to discuss in several months. The thread was beyond its productive life back on page 2 or 3.

Nothing else to discuss in the absence of any real information, so what's the harm?

Are all hopes for a Leopard follow-up release of the new Mac Pro gone? What do you guys think? There is barely any real MP news making the headlines these days.:(

Mid November Is Still My Expectation

What can we post that we already haven't? Mid November I still believe. :)

We don't have any reason to not think it will happen in a month.

Imagine if Apple announced a new MacPro tomorrow along with Leopard? Would be frickin fantastic! I just hope one comes with Leopard.

Apple wont hog the front page with two things. Leopard will have the front page for a few weeks then Mac Pro after that at some point.

mac pro's been on the back page for ages. Don't see why they'd be in any hurry to bump it up now. We have iPhone updates and new laptops to work on!

Leopard Up-to-Date Program

For those waiting for Leopard to buy a new computer..

---
If you buy a qualifying Mac between October 1, 2007 and December 29, 2007, and it does not include Mac OS X Leopard, you’re eligible to get Leopard after it’s released for just $9.95 plus tax.

We don't have any reason to think that it will happen in a month. There are way more chips and chipsets that Apple hasn't rolled out upon Intel's release than there are chips that Apple has introduced on or before the Intel public rollout.

If you are calling an article in The (ever reliable) Inquirer, one that nobody else has followed up, then I think you are grabbing at straws. Frankly, I wish that we did have some evidence.

It will come when it comes. Let's wait peacefully. :apple:

I hope you're right... but I'm starting to think Apple might hold it until Macworld in January.

Apple needs something big to announce at Macworld. What do they have besides the Mac Pro? Most of Apple's products are mid-life in their product cycle. So, unless they have some new toy up their sleeves, the Mac Pro is it.

Ultra thin MacBook or something? It's gotta be something new and something we've never seen before at Macworld. MacPro just needs some new chips and graphics. Silent update only.

Does that mean any Macs FROM the Apple Store Online will not have Leopard on them until next year?? Or does it take like a week or two for them to get on the machines?

I Don't Think A Marketing Reason Would Be Why To Delay Shipping HSS MP In November

No I wasn't thinking of that article. But I would disagree Apple hasn't been among the first to release new products based on new or even unreleased Intel chips. I see what they've done with the mobile chips as well as the original Mac Pro last year as very much vanguard.

A review of Leopard's success along with a new Core2Quad mid tower line might work. But I get your point. From a tax write off point of view of Mac Pro type customers, they might buy a lot more if they are offered next month than if they aren't offered until January. I think the dual Harpertown Mac Pro can be ready to roll next month and I don't see a marketing reason to hold it back.

An ultra-thin Macbook would certainly be a big announcement at Macworld... but I think the Mac Pro update will be substantial enough to deserve more than just a silent update.

Does that mean any Macs FROM the Apple Store Online will not have Leopard on them until next year?? Or does it take like a week or two for them to get on the machines?

The ones from the online store should get Leopard pretty quickly. The December 29, 2007 date is meant to just cover computers that are currently in the retail channel... so if you buy a computer at somewhere like Amazon.com next month and it still has Tiger on it, then you're eligible for the $9.95 Leopard price.

Silent update only.
A silent update for their pro-machine that hasn´t been updated in over a year? Leaving you only with thinner laptops to show at you big event two months later!
Would you do that if you were Steve Jobs?

Or would you introduce it with a big bang at Macworld, calling it "the fastest personal computer on the planet!" and saying things like: "Isn´t this amazing?", "boom" and "This is the best mac we ever built, I think our customers will love it."

And don´t forget the best one and my personal reason for why I think, they will hold it back until Macworld:
"Shipping ... TODAY!" (*Audience cheers.*)

:D

If only it was January already. At this point, I would be surprised to see the new Mac Pro before Macworld.
