I have an older macbook pro. I'm planning to remove its optical bay in exchange for another hard drive, probably an SSD. However, I'm not sure if the older mbps have an ATA optical interface (which I presume would make it difficult/impossible to replace with an SSD which are all SATA).

I know that the new ones are all SATA, does anyone know when they made the change?

    Thanks in advance.

:apple: > About This Mac > More Info... opens the System Profiler (or you could use Spotlight) and there you look for Hardware > ATA or
    Serial-ATA.
Wherever your optical drive is listed, that's the connection it uses.

But most likely it is an ATA drive, as the white MacBook (early 2008) and the iMac (late 2007) have ATA.
