I really can't stand the glamour side of Hollywood. It's such bull****.
Agreed, I don't care what people are wearing. I find it interesting that movie stars want to save the world yet they spend more money on wasteful things then anything else. Those million dollar dresses could do a lot of good somewhere else.

The writers strike is really showing, a lot of clips tonight.

Not that I ever had any doubt but now I KNOW I'm an Apple junkie.....

because I got really, really excited when Jon Stewart displayed his iPhone (or maybe it was the iPod Touch, I'm not sure) when he was talking about watching some movie or other on his device and briefly flashed it so that the Apple logo was clearly visible.....how cool was THAT!?! :D

And the guy who won for Ratatouille thanked Steve Jobs because of Pixar.

Yep, I caught that, too! Also I noticed in some of the photos they showed of the various creatives Mac computers were definitely in use..... :)

I'm really tickled that the Coen brothers came home with a few awards! I wouldn't be at all surprised but what they aren't Mac users, too.....

Grumble grumble

If somebody kidnapped the orchestra conductor to get the orchestra to stop cutting off the award winners, I would be sooooo glad.

I know the orchestra is just doing what they were told to do, but the host and presenters get to talk as long as they like, yet when a group of winners come up they give the first person a few seconds to speak and then cut off everyone else. These are supposedly the people they all came to honor!

I say make the show another half hour longer and let them speak for a minute more each! Or leave out 30 minutes of Jack Nicholson jokes; then they could let the winners speak without making the show longer.

Well they have 30 minutes of wasted space at the beginning that they could use. You have the entertainment networks doing 5 hours of red carpet stuff, why do they need it built into the Oscars.

If one of my projects ever gets picked and its my time to go up there(hoping:D) I'll freak out if they cut me off at my lime light moment:) Jk.

I think I would just go up there and thank four people and run off stage...might fall down too knowing my luck.

Bless

I was glad to see Dario Marianelli get the award for best score for Atonement. He deserved it, that score was very well done. I'm still bitter about the 2006 awards when that piece of garbage score for Brokeback Mountain won over two John Williams scores and Marianelli's score for Pride and Prejudice. At least this year the judges took the cotton out of their ears and actually listened to the scores they were nominating...

I hoped Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova would win Best Song for "Falling Slowly," and they did, but I most enjoyed the live performance of "That's How You Know" from Enchanted because it was sung by G[a]linda the Good Witch from Wicked. :)

That's Kristin Chenoweth, of course. I like the TV show she's on too: Pushing Daisies.

Perhaps, but we all know that Jonny Greenwood should have won it for his extraordinary score for There Will Be Blood. Stupid Academy rules...

I can't really comment on that one because I haven't seen the movie and I've only heard the 30 second samples on the iTunes store. It's a very different score, and from what I've heard I don't think it works as well as standalone music as Atonement does. However seeing it in the context of the film may be an entirely different story. Jonny does have an interesting and unique writing style that I can certainly appreciate, however.

It's an award for a score, i.e. it should only be taken in context of the film.

Greenwood's score was definitely the best of the year. It really is too bad that his work couldn't be officially recognized.

For me it is a little bit pity that Russian film 12 by Mihalkov didn't get the Oscar. It really deserves it.

Ah, this explains the victory!

Macworld story
The Coen brothers proved during the making of No Country for Old Men just how influential a Mac and the right software can be during the editing process. The movie won four Oscars at this year’s Academy Awards, including Best Picture. In fact, it is the first movie edited with a completely digital workflow on Mac to win the Oscar.

I was a little disappointed to find out No Country for Old Men won. I liked the film, but I though There Will Be Blood and Atonement were both phenomenal and much better than No Country.

Didnt watch the Oscars this year.. but The Daily Show w/ John Stewart had a great skit on it making fun if him for hosting it or whatever!!!

I watched the oscar, and I am really dissapointed... there were some oscars that were totally unfair... special effects for example... Pirates of the Caribean & Transformers have 1000x effects than that third movie...
