Bought the Macbook October of 2008. It's been a great computer but about a year and a half ago the screen decided to do flicker down a bar an eighth of the scree wide...At first I could just move the screen a little bit and it would go away...then more of the screen was doing it and moving the screen was not making them go away. I went to the Apple store a few months after and they quote the fix at about 200 dollars...I figured thats what I would end up doing. I have also just bought a Samsung 470 128GB SSD to replace the 250GB HDD and 2X4GB Corsair DDR3 RAM to replace the 2X2GB factory RAM. Any other suggestion on how to get the display fixed? Do you think that the fixed monitor and updates to SSD and RAM will make it a solid machine for a few more years? Any thoughts on the situation at all? :)

2X4GB Corsair DDR3 RAM, did you just buy it? Because Corsair has a tendency not to work properly with the logic board of the Late 08' Unibody.

For a few dollars more you can get 8GB from OWC.
