2009 iMac as PC second monitor

I'd like to hook my 2009 iMac up to my gaming PC as a second monitor.

The video card on my gaming PC has 1 display port. Will a mini display port to the display port cable work?

Or must the connection on the PC be mini display port as well.

It should work fine with a mini-DisplayPort to DisplayPort cable or adapter.

Just get yourself a display port to mini display port cable and your gold.

If your not sure which one to get, just message me, I should still have the one I purchased saved in my eBay or Amazon accounts.

Out of interest, what OSX are you running? I have the same setup but on Mavericks it flicks to a black screen when using the miniDP cable.
