I'm looking to upgrade my Ati Radeon 5770 video card to be compatible with a future 4K monitor. For now I will be using the card on my 27" Cinema display until I purchase a 4K display this summer.
The computer is only used for Photoshop, Aperture, and Lightroom. No games.
    My budget is $400.

    Thanks!

So, are you looking for something that can output 4K 60Hz?

    AFAIK, 5770 can output 3840x2160 @30Hz.

Do you prefer a new card? Or a 2nd hand card is OK for you if that can save money?

I assume that you are looking for a card which can give you the boot screen, right?

$400 is a largish budget but I guess it spends if you want boots screen or not.

If so, you have to purchase a Mac edition card or a flashed card (macvidcards).

If not, any windows card can do. A gtx 970 would work well I believe.

Would a non-Mac card support all the Adobe Photoshop GPU-accelerated features as well as a Mac-edition?

Apart from the start screen, is there any advantage to a Mac edition card?

From what I've read, nVidia is preferred over AMD?
