2009 unibody macbook pro hdd compatible with 2011 macbook pro?

hi so i have 2009 unibody macbook pro hdd that i have to get the data out because the laptop is dead and i was wondering if its compatible with 2011 macbook pro? any help is welcome thx 🙂

Yes, it will be a direct swap. Both use a 2.5" SATA drive.

Not sure based on your post if you are looking to just use the drive in the newer laptop, but it would be possible as Weaselboy said. Your options beyond that are manual transfer (assuming you have the 2009 laptop apart from only the drive) Time Machine or other backup services, or an external enclosure.
