2010 15" MBP - no audio with MDP>HDMI adaptor

I thought the 2010 MBPs supported audio through the minidisplay port? I have the 2010 15" 2.6ghz with the SD slot. I hooked up the DYNEX DX-AP160 which says supports audio but when hooked up I don't get the HDMI in the audio. I'm thinking it might be the adapter?

What exact adapter do you have (link)?
Have you looked at System Preferences > Sound >> Output?

I have 2 LG plasmas, and tried both of them, with a lot of cables, finally i bought hdmi 1.4c but still no luck :s

That's the adapter. Listed the part number in the op but failed to put the link in there too.

I don't see no HDMI sound output in the sound preferences.
