2010 15" MBP to HDTV

Hi, I've got the same set up.
I close the lid to put the MBP to sleep, connect it to my TV which is on but on a different source (AV Receiver plays up otherwise), change to the HDMI channel and wake the Mac up with my Bluetooth KB or wireless mouse.
One tip, if your sound comes out of the Mac go to System Preferences> Sound> Output and change the active device to the HDMI audio. This has happened to me a couple of times.
