2010 Macbook support 8gb or 4gb ram?

    Looking at one on CL and was curious of what is actually supported. Im seeing conflicting info.

    they come with 4gb and can be updated to 8gb.

    OOPS...I thought you said macbook pro..
    The Macbooks come with 2 gb and can update to 4

    It will work. In the worst case scenario, only 6 GB will be available, but I'm pretty sure that was only the case in like the mid 2009 ones and before.

    That program is pretty nice. And it does confirm that the late 2009 Macbooks and later support 8GB RAM, as well as making a note of the fact that the "official" Apple supported amount is 4GB

    Thanks for the answer.

    I wonder why Apple lists a lower supported ram amount than what is actually supported.
