Which copy of Windows 7 are you guys running? Home Premium or Professional? I'm trying to decide which is best for me and which will run best (lower on system resources)

Ultimate x64, but only b/c my HP came with it. Any of them will run fine - the differences between Pro and HP (or even Ult.) are very small in regards to system resource use. If you're worried about speed, you can turn off extra features like Aero.

I heard Win7 Professional has better support for older XP based applications?

Oh, and where can I find the latest drivers for my 2010 Macbook Pro?

Windows 7 Pro has "XP Mode" which is basically a built-in (but needs to be downloaded) Win XP virtual machine. If you do need to run strict WinXP programs, then Pro would be the choice. Pro also gives you the option to join a Domain and do networked backups.

The latest drivers would be acquired through Apple's software update and Windows update, both in the Start menu.

If you're a student (you need a .edu email address), you can get Win 7 Pro for $29.99. It's an upgrade, but you can install it w/o putting in a serial (which installs full version), then reinstall again using the upgrade CD key.

Does the DVD installation disc for OS X contain the drivers if i pop it into the DVD drive from windows?

Yes, after installing Windows, pop in the OSX installation disk to install all the drivers.

So, after reading all the threads I'm confused as to what the consensus is.

I have a 2011 15" MBP with a 500g drive in the main slot. I get an Optibay, what's the best way to install Windows 7 onto a 500g drive in the Optibay slot? Do I Bootcamp the second drive, just boot off the Windows Install Disc in a USB drive, or place the 500g in an external enclosure and install it there with the stock optical drive?

Windows won't boot off of an external drive. First, boot into OSX with both drives installed and run Bootcamp to partition the drive for Windows. Then, shut down. Put the optical drive back in and put the 500g drive into the original slot. Then boot to the Windows disc, fully install Windows, shut down, and restore the Optibay/SSD to their respective locations. Then boot again into Windows on the Bootcamp partition and finish doing whatever you have to do (updates, drivers, etc). Remember, the first thing to do is to insert the OSX install disc and install the Windows drivers. You can do this last step through an external disc drive.

I've done the above. However when I put the bootcamp partitioned HDD in original slot and put the Windows 7 disc in the superdrive I get nowhere. The disc constantly ejects.

So my question is how do you boot into Windows 7 for the install?

I'm not sure - mine didn't eject (it started the install process). Do you have another Windows 7 disc to try?
