Hi.

The stock Toshiba 250GB in my 2010 MPB13 became slow after time.

I run Xbench test after almost every OS update. So I have benchmarks from 10.6.5, 10.6.7, 10.6.8, 10.7.3, 10.8.1 & 10.8.2. Every time I perform the test, I make sure it is under the same conditions (approximately the same amount of free space available, fresh boot, repaired permissions, no other running apps, repeat the test 3 times to ensure result reliability).

I have noticed that since Lion, both write and read speeds have pretty much halved :S.

I just tried Blackmagic Speed Test and it gives me the same result as Xbench. So nothing wrong with Xbench IMO.

The drive is definitely fine and has no issues at all (SMART status OK), it just became slow. What gives?

To put you into perspective, I am getting 20 MB/s for both read and write at the moment. Yes, that is 20 MB/s.

Something is obviously wrong as it used to be around 40MB/s in the past.
