I didn't shut down entirely but

Thanks. Anyone else? Seemed like a few more people were going to test their Airs.

I feel I'm not out of the woods yet, so to speak. Although it didn't drain completely during my second test, the fact that it drained 3% (from 52 to 49%) while it was off over a night is a little alarming.

I am not an expert but, when I started up my new MBA 11" on Monday, the machine's battery was at 77%, so it is possible that even when completely shut off the battery will drain.

My MBA was manufactured in Mid-December 2011 so it was in storage for over 2 weeks when I bought it this past Monday.

Also I know my case is a little different but when I turned the brightness down to zero and kept my MBA 11" unused in my level 8 case from Tuesday night to last night I still had the 89% charge from Tuesday.

Tonight will be 24 hours that it is in deep sleep (think I left it at 83% or something).

So according to this thread, it is normal for batteries to drain slightly even when the device is entirely off: https://discussions.apple.com/message/6491362#6491362

@PBG4, perhaps shutting down overnight and turning it back on in the morning doesn't drain any power cause not enough time has passed?

In my second test, it was close to 24 hours before I turned it back on and got the 3% drain. Still, to me 3% sounds like a lot.

Update

Just tested again overnight. Charged to 100%, fully shut down, then booted it back up in the morning (a good 8+ hour difference), and it's at 99%. I think this is pretty normal, I'd say. I'm going to keep an eye out, but I think I can avoid the Genius bar for now.

Yea, also, software is recalculating your battery percentage so a change of 1% I'd consider noise anyway.

I didn't need my 2011 13" MBA for a couple of days, so I tested. It was fully charged at the start. I then shut it down (not sleep). Today, 48 hours later, I booted up and it showed 99%.
