Hello.

My trusty little 11" 2011 MacBook Air (which is now 10) won't turn on as of this week. When I press the power button, it makes a beeping sound three times, stops for a few seconds, and then does this again. It will keep making the sound until I hole down the power button for a while and then it stops.

Having googled the issue, it looks like the RAM may have failed. And it seems this isn't an easy fix for a novice like me, as the RAM is soldered on.

Has anyone come across this issue before and manage to either fix it or get it fixed? Although I don't use this machine much anymore as I have a 13" MBP, I do occasionally use it because I really like the small size. I'm really gutted that this seems to have died on me.

Is it even worth trying to get this fixed or should I call it a day?

Thanks.

10 years out of a laptop is amazing, if it is indeed the RAM, call it quits.
I recently got a M1 MBA, I had a 2013 13" MBA for 6 years and then a 15 MBP for 2 - the M1 MBA reminds me a lot of the 11" MBA but with an much much improved screen, if you are near an Apple store, take a look at it ...

Yep, I thought 10 years was pushing it. It has served me well.

I do need a spare so I’m going to check out the M1 MBA.
