guys, hi, just got a new MPB 13" base model. i used to be a ibook user, and i havent encounter this problem when i was using the ibook.

now when i use this new mpb, just running colloquy, chrome and firefox, my fan speed will kick to 6000 rpm which is quite loud and inside the library =( any advice?

Oh ya, its showing 32 degree

That definitely doesn't sound right. Try a SMC reset? Or check Activity Monitor to see if Spotlight is indexing?

I'm really conflicted now over whether I should go ahead with the replacement or not. This MBP is great in every other area - running at a pretty cool 44C with Chrome, Adium, Kiwi, iTunes and Transmission. People's accounts seem to suggest that this is a common issue across the MBPS - is there even a chance of getting a quiet HDD or is this an issue regardless of whatever brand of HDD?

I'm afraid prices here are too prohibitive to consider installing a SSD: a 128GB SSD costs between $300 - $400 USD.

Probably Flash ... not to say i know a cure except to avoid using flash.

I agree with the FLASH comment...the only time I have any trouble with my MBP is when I am on something flash-intensive. Dang flash!

hmm, could be, ill keep a look out and see if im on flash or not when this happen again
