Sorry to bring up a dead thread, but I managed to create an impromptu fix for this (at least until my warranty is up) by cutting a small piece of paper and tucking it into the underside of the 5/% key.
Relatively easy and painless to get the key off without damaging it. Getting it on after inserting the paper on the underside is a little more frustrating. I cut the piece just big enough so I didn't have to use any tape (as it would diffuse the light more so) and was held in place merely by pressure from the two clips on either side used to hold the key in place.
It looks to me as if the issue lies within the alignment of the layers of "film" used to control when/where/how the light is illuminated. My assumption is realigning these sheets can resolve this problem.
Once my warranty is up, I'll do a tear down and see what I can figure out about it.
