Anyone notice the Big East doesn't have a single team in the top 25?

...and yet they still get millions in BCS money every year. So effed up.

Hey! TCU is ranked! They are a Big East team, right? :)

Meanwhile, the SEC has eight teams ranked. I agree with most of the rankings, although I don't see why LSU is ranked so highly. Sadly, this could like last year for us. Win 8 or 9 games, finish in the top 15, and STILL finish fifth in our own division.

Is that.... could that be.... ah yes... BOOMER SOONER!

Not yet, they ain't! We still have a year to lay the beat down on The Blue!

It will be nice to finally play them on our home field. We played them in '04 in the Fort Worth Bowl on their field and beat them. Now it's their turn to come to our house! :)

I gotta say, I'm actually looking forward to seeing some new teams this year. We've dominated the WAC for so long that it wasn't really all that exciting anymore. It will be nice to have some buzz at the stadium for some conference games.

Enjoy that this year while you can. Next year they should consider changing the name of the conference to "Other WAC." :D

Seriously. Ugh.

It will be slightly better than the old WAC. Maybe call it "WAC v1.3"

Overall I agree with the decision to move to the MWC, but trading the ESPN exposure is tough. We only have two, MAYBE three games on ESPN this season! And I refuse to pay my cable provider more money for some obscure sports channel just so I can see Boise State destroy teams like UNLV.

Reports seem to be heating up[/URL] about Texas A&M jumping ship to the SEC.

looks like the big 12 will be no more.

And just like that, rumors get squoshed:

SEC declines to invite Texas A&M

The Southeastern Conference is not extending an invitation to Texas A&M to become its 13th member, but isn't ruling out adding the Aggies in the future.

University of Florida president Dr. Bernie Machen said the conference's presidents and chancellors met on Sunday and "reaffirmed our satisfaction with the present 12 institutional alignment."

"We recognize, however, that future conditions may make it advantageous to expand the number of institutions in the league," Machen said. "We discussed criteria and process associated with expansion. No action was taken with respect to any institution including Texas A&M."

This is like the girl that tells the guy, "It's not that I don't like you - I'm just not interested in a relationship right now."

Riiiiiiight..... ;)

Or the old, "it's not you, it's me! I've just got to figure out some things about myself before I make any big decisions..." :D

I think the SEC is waiting until they can firm up the 14th team to go along with A&M. Florida State and Clemson have been mentioned as possibilities but I have been reading that Florida and South Carolina are opposed to them joining. I guess they don't want to share the market and revenue with in-state rivals.

I agree with this post, but I'll also add that I think the "play for us, we're in the SEC" argument also loses luster when your ACC rival joins the SEC.

Yeah, I wouldn't necessarily say the rumor is squashed just yet. I think the SEC is just waiting for A&M to work out their own contract issues, as in how they'll break it with the Big 12.

Obviously there has to be at least one more team in order for A&M to join. But I think the SEC will invite A&M eventually (likely after this season) because then they'd have that much more access to Texas recruits.

Maybe the Big 12 will then invite Boise State??! ;)

I really think the Big 12 should get back to 12 teams. Something is just wrong when the Big 12 has 10 teams and the Big 10 has 12 teams.

I also have a feeling the big 12 will be dissolved in the next few years.

GO OU! I'm an incoming freshman this year and a long time fan.. can't wait to go to every home game! Usually I only end up at 1-2 a year.

Kind of surprised we're a pre-season #1 in that USA Today (I think that's who it was) poll, but I'm not complaining! Good to see TCU up there too, they're my hometown team.

@Texas A&M- If they end up in the SEC, they will be crushed. They don't dominate the Big 12 as is, nor do they even win that many games. I can't imagine how they'd fare in the SEC.

Bring on Boise State in the Big 12! ;)

Yes, interesting developments with A&M.

Blah blah blah sour grapes. College sports are cyclical; every program has down cycles. Remember when UTex sucked for much of the 80s and 90s? Remember when Alabama was irrelevant? Remember when OU stunk for a decade? Remember when LSU was terrible for TWO decades? Have you checked out Notre Dame's or Michigan's or Tennessee's records the last few years?

Get rid of the Smurf Field then maybe.

That said, I'm to the point of hoping the Bix XII folds so OSU, OU, TT, (Other Team) can head west and solidiy the Pac 16. The Big XII is a sinking ship and I'll be glad when it is completely submerged. As much as I'd love to see A&M's dreams dashed by the SEC, I'd almost rather see them get stomped each weekend and get what they asked for.

I also have a feeling the big 12 will be dissolved in the next few years.

Hopefully one more year at the most!
