2011 iMac and Mini Display Port Compatibility

I want to buy the 2011 iMac 27
I also want to use it as a screen for my PS3/Xbox 360

Do you guys reckon the MDP will support 1080p natively this time round or will we need an upscaler again? I know the current 27 inchers have this issue.

Thats what i am wondering too ad i am also getting the new iMac and i think they will resolve the issue but i cannot be certain

I sure hope so! However some claim 1080p wouldn't look much better than 720p because 1280x720 can be filled in the 2560x1440 iMac easily by combining 4 pixels to act as 1, so the image is sharp (however pixelated). 1920x1080 can't be displayed like that, and wouldn't look less pixelated since most PS3/Xbox 360 games run natively on 720p.
