I have a 2007 MacBook. Recently cleaned and upgraded it with a new fan and 250GB HD. Nice little investments to keep it going for a while. Unfortunately it's only good for administrative stuff now. Can't really do anything else on it i.e. audio and video work.

Curious to know how much faster the new Thunderbolt MBP is compared to this old 2007 MB. What about graphics performance using apps like Photoshop or watching 1080p video? I can't watch 1080p video on this 2007 MB. Too slow.

How much faster is a new iMac compared to a new MBP?

The new iMacs are around 9000 to 11000 points.

Strange that your 2007 MBP doesn't play 1080p content, as my 2007 iMac with 2GHz doesn't have a problem with it, but that may be due to the weaker Integrated Graphics Processor (IGP) in your 2007 MB compared to the dedicated GPU in the 2007 iMac.

Anyway, the 2011 Macs will be three to four times faster in calculating things, like rendering or transcoding video, and they will be able to play 1080p content without problem (unless the encoding is horrible).
