I'm seriously doubting between these 2 options:

    2011 21,5" iMac
    2.5Ghz i5 quad core
    8GB 1333Mhz RAM
    dedicated GPU (Radeon 6750M)

    2012 Mac Mini
    2.3Ghz i7 quad core
    8GB 1600Mhz RAM
    HD4000

I do some gaming (CS:GO). Pricing of both will be about the same, what will give me the best result for gaming? I suspect the dedicated GPU and 7200rpm HDD of the iMac will help a lot, but the Ivy Bridge is so much faster.

    Opinions?

You need that Radeon 6750M for gaming, no question.

How about everyone's thoughts on needing the 6750 for things like Aperture and PS?

And the 5400rpm is kind of what really kills it for me in the mini (and for that matter the new iMac).

How much faster is the Ivy, really?

Been running FCPX and Aperture on the 2011 for the last year, just got the 2012 mini and it's goat butter smooth!

Well the HD4000 should be much better than the HD3000 that was in your 2011 Mini. You're seeing substantial difference between the two?

I still imagine a dedicated card, even one from an older 2011 iMac will be faster.

Faster yes, but I was able to play SC2 and Portal on the 3000
