I have a mid-2011 27" iMac that until recently ran Win7 in Bootcamp. The hard drive failed, so I replaced it with an SSD and did a clean install of Win10 (no MacOS-partition). No Bootcamp driver support, of course, because this model wasn't supposed to outlive Win7. Now I'm finding it's running incredibly hot compared to before (eg. playing Dota): the CPU fan seems to be running at max capacity most of the time, and when under load the SSD can heat up to ~70°C (I expect from the GPU). I'll open it up again soon to see if I can see anything wrong, but meanwhile these questions:
- Has anyone had similar experiences with Win10 on a 2011 model?
- What might cause the massive difference in temperature between Win7 and Win10?
- Is there any way to underclock the GPU/CPU to keep temps at bay that way?
- Is there a way to still get relevant drivers? Most stuff works, but things like Bluetooth and speakers won't, and the driver packages I've found won't install because the OS isn't supported.
- Is there another solution I can try?

Thank you!

Can’t help with the Windows issues but when we replaced the hard drive on my wife’s 2011 21” with a SSD it needed a utility to control the fan since the temp sensor didn’t work on the new drive. You may have the same issue.
