The above is the interior of my moms LTZ Equinox. Very similar. Like the picture of the Tahoe and the Escalade above, they build on the same frameworks.

You can not even compare the two. My wife actually drives a 2010 Equinox. They are completely different driving vehicles. Cadillac has more than just a grill and taillamps to differentiate its lesser models from the top end. The Equinox/Terrain are actually longer than the Cadillac, and aren’t going to share the top engine offerings, premium level trimmings, and some of the top end features that the Cadillac has. Ford’s “platform sharing” is much easier to pick out than GM’s is lately. Parking a Ford next to its Lincoln equivalent reveals very distinct similarities, GM really is getting away from that.

This thread is about interiors which are very similar. I would hope that Cadillac used better materials for the price you pay. The technology is very similar including using the exact same navigation system.

And the Cadillac is actually longer than the Equinox.

The SRX isn't much bigger than the Equinox. According to their respective websites, the SRX has a 110.5 in wheelbase and is 190.3in overall. The Equinox is 187.8in overall and the wheelbase is 112.5 in. The first gen SRX was bigger, as it was a 3 row, 7 passenger model, but it got downsized in the last redesign to a two row, five passenger model.

They are definitely very similar. I was just making a point because he was claiming that there was a difference where you couldn't even compare the two and part of the argument was that the Equinox was longer than the SRX.

Yeah, they are built off the same platform. I do admit GM has done a much better job of platform sharing, but they are essentially the same vehicle. The biggest difference is the drivetrain. You can get the 4 cylinder in the Equinox, and the Caddy offers a 300HP turbo V6 at the upper end. Interior wise, I'd say an upper-end Equinox is very close to an entry-level SRX, which I guess is the way it is supposed to be.

How can you say this:

Looks like this?

The only thing you can say they share design wise is the sea of buttons and similar air vents.

Also, the Equinox rides on GM's Theta platform. The new POS SRX rides on Theta-Epsilon. While there are similar components between the two, they are still different platforms.

Also, I say the new SRX is a POS because it went from GM's RWD Sigma I platform to the FWD TE platform. The first-gen SRX drove great and handled very well. Despite its wagon like looks and piss poor interior, it won C&D best luxury SUV award for 3 straight years. Typical GM though, they fix the styling and interior, but they screw up its handling characteristics which made C&D choose it for the award 3 years running. If you want to gain some of it back, you have to add the weight adding FE killing AWD system to it. Plus, the engine choices suck. You either go for FE and get the gutless wonder that is the 3.0 liter V6 or get the fuel sucking 2.8 liter Turbo V6.

I think the 2011 Durango and Grand Cherokee have nicer interiors.

Waloshin, don't be tricked by CG images. They always look nicer then they do in real life. Again, the MKX uses good materials where the Grand Cherokee at least( haven't sit in the new Durango) uses decent materials( it's good for the class, but doesn't come close to the MKX as it should be expected).

While you may not like the interior design of the MKX, it is far from a horrible interior.

"similar" maybe... but far from the same...

From Motor Trend;”The new SRX takes different components from different GM platforms to make a totally different “theta premium” platform.”

Per Wiki, SRX is not on the Theta platform: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GM_Theta_platform

and per wiki”The production SRX uses the all-wheel drive GM Theta Premium platform, which is mostly unique but shares many components with Theta and Epsilon II. ”

So, it is very likely that the steering system is somewhat different than the Theta system.

Although they may look "similar" I assure you there is a HUGE difference int he way these vehicles handle and feel. The Chevy/GMC are nice but not in the same league as the Cadillac.

Because they look the same.

Yeah of course the Cadillac has more features and better material which is expected for the extra cash. As far as design goes, they look the same.

Steering wheel is different, radio unit is different, dash design is different. I hardly see any resemblance between the two interior designs. Where do they look the same?

You sure you're not mixing up the SRX with the Terrain?

The whole flow is similar. The dash, the instrument panel, the steering wheel and the electronics. Yes there are differences but it is very similar. Same floor plan different wall colors and fixtures.

Missed this post. Same navigation system? The one in the SRX pops up where the Equinox stays where it is.

Here it is popped out.

And I guess we will have to agree to disagree. The SRX's interior is a different design then the Equinox's in my view. It's based off the CTS's interior design.

The new Grand Cherokee is real wood even in the steering wheel. It's not stick on plastic crap. Even the cheapest bottom end grand Cherokee has real wood everywhere.
