What would you guys do?

I've got a late 2011 15" MBP with hires antiglare and an upgraded 750GB Seagate hybrid drive. I've used my wife's iPad (I don't have one for myself). I've played with the RMBP in the Apple Store.

My choice: save the money! 2-3 years down the road I'll buy the RMBP at that time, and the iPad simply doesn't do anything I want nor does it do anything my MBP does.

I'm sure by then we'll look back at the current RMPB as a first generation, overpriced "toy" with issues not immediately apparent. Just like the original MacBook Air.

No comparison to the original MBA. That was a completely new design completely different from anything else. The retina is not completely new. The technology used is not new, just the combination of technology.

Sorry but the toy comment is one of the most ridiculous comments I've read.

The only way to make Word look good is to up the res to 2880x1800. Anything else looks poor.

oh i thought it was the other way around with the resolution.

so as long as you run at full resolution, office looks ok?

The UI is very small and you have to increase the size of the letters when you put it at 2880x1800. Also you have to install an extra program in order to set the retina to that res. When you do that the text looks good but everything else gets extremely small.

A workaround but not very useful if you use several programs at the same time as Office.

I'll bookmark this and get back to you in a couple of years. :)
