Im freshman in High school and want this computer to last me to college. i want the macbook pro because of the portability i just cant image being stuck to a desk to do my work. I want to do video editing, Adobe programs, and alot of multimedia, on top of my school work. The only drawback to the laptop is the screen size to me. So i would plan i buying an external display. That way i get the best of both. Right? So i was planning on getting the 15in MBP then all these rumors surfaced about the revison in april 2011. So i planned on waiting but the revision will make the price past the 2000 mark and i really dont want that. I was think of waiting and getting the new version except getting the one that will still have the drive. Dont i need the drive for video editing? Please Help Me!!! i think about this all Day and need someone elses help.

Nobody knows what next year will bring. Whether you get a 2010 or 2011 model, it should last you into college if it's taken care of. No one but you can decide what model you need.

It's your choice. Nobody can decide for you.

If you don't need it right now, and you have another computer available,
it's better to wait, because you will be disappointed when you see a great new MBP selling at the same price as the old model.

P.S. Don't worry about optical drive - external drives are very cheap.

What exactly do you want to do with your computer? What does "a lot of multimedia" mean?
In fact, you sound a bit confused about what you will need in your computer. Its best that you figure that out, and then come back here. (For example, if you need an optical drive, or a large hard disk)
I'm a freshman in highschool too, and I think my MacBook Pro 13" suites my needs perfectly. As much as I would love having a larger MacBook Pro, I couldn't justify spending $2000 on a computer I'll be using for basics. I probably could justify it, but I'd rather spend that money else where. Decide if you really need a close to $2000 computer.
