Hello,

For quite some time, my 2011 Macbook Pro (2.2 ghz i7) has been having problems staying connected to my wifi. I have no problem initially getting connected, but the connection drops. Sometimes it can hang on for an hour, but more often it only stays connected for 5-10 minutes. On the status bar at the top it still says I'm connected, but I cannot load anything off the web. The only way to solve the problem is to manually disconnect and then re-connect. Wash, rinse, repeat.

I hoped it was perhaps some sort of software issue, and I wanted to upgrade to a SSD anyway, so I purchased a SSD and performed a clean install of El Capitan. I'm currently running 10.11.3 beta, but I've had stable release versions on here also and I have the same problem no matter what version of the OS I'm on. It started with Yosemite.

The problem still persists, so I'm afraid of a hardware problem. I have many wifi devices, and my Macbook Pro is the ONLY device I have that has this problem - so it's nothing wrong with my internet connection or router. My iPad, iPhone, Xbox One, and various other devices have no issue.

Has anyone else experienced this or does anyone have a fix? I'm still holding out hope that it's something software-related.

Thank you!

Do you have the problem on other Wi-Fi networks, too?

For good measure, do an SMC and NVRAM reset.
I'd say a software issue on your machine is highly unlikely at this point. If the above doesn't fix it and you also have the problem on other networks, your AirPort wireless card is likely faulty. It can be replaced without too much hassle.
