Toshiba and LG.

I wouldn't have cared but everyone here makes it feel like my machine is sub-par and insignificant.

No, not everyone. All kidding aside the difference in SSDs is only noticeable when you run benchmarks (and some benchmarks Toshiba is faster) and the differences in screens are not noticeable. I have two MBAs with different components and I can't tell the difference.

There are some here who get hung up on those barely noticeable details. Ignore them. Do you like your new MBA? Enjoy it! It's a great piece of hardware regardless of what brand of screen or SSD it has. Apple doesn't advertise component brands because they don't matter. Apple has all it's MBAs assembled to meet certain specifications, and both of mine (and yours) meet that specification.

So use it, enjoy it, and dont let this useless topic detract from your enjoyment of your MBA. Congratulations on having such a cool laptop! :)

I have been through 4 x LG Screens all with Samsung SSD's. Each have been 13" i7 ultimate models (in Australia over last thirty days - have exchanged for various reasons - one from Apple online store, three from Apple retail store). No problems with screen for me once calibrated. My partners got a Samsung screen and it appears too white and to over-saturate colours.

It's weird because I have always had the Samsung screens on my MacBook Pro's (and so wanted this once again), but having compared the LG to the Samsung (both calibrated), the colours appear more neutral/natural on the LG.

So now a LG display/Samsung SSD beats a double Samsung? Wow. Amazing.

"beats"? No. But it works for me. That's what I was alluding to in my previous post. Not sure there should be a competition between components. But it gets perpetuated in threads like this.

I hope someone can help me, my MBA came with a Samsung SSD, what a relief!

But I have an LG Screen, I keep finding myself thinking about it and crying. I think Apple should set up a phone line or some kind of counselling service...

I'm so distraught and don't know what to do.

We feel your pain. Unfortunately, heavy sedation is your only option. :D

Base 13" model with Samsung display and Toshiba SSD. Looks good and works good, so no complaints from me. Samsung drives are faster in some tests due to the NCQ, but it's an SSD so the difference isn't really going to make that much of an impact. It'll still tear through whatever you throw at it.

Now if these were enterprise servers.. then yea I'd be bitching up a storm right about now :p As an end user, grab a beer and stop worrying about petty ****.

My brother and me both ordered 13" i7 with 256 ssd and we both have samsung/samsung.

You guys are soooo lucky

I purchased my MBA 13" i7 256 SSD. And it's with Samsang SSD and LG panel.

But I'm quite happy with it. It doesn't show much downgrade compare to my MBP

Ye I know we both are quite lucky, BUT:

1) I wouldn't be unhappy or something if I would have the LG Panel or the Toshiba SSD because I guess I wouldn't even notice the difference.

2) I wouldn't send it back or something just because of that because it just takes too long to get a new one, I waited for my 13" 4 weeks, same did my brother, so we deserve the Samsung/Samsung :p

Bought mine on 08/30/11 at the Victoria Gardens Apple store.

Specs: 13" i7 256/4

SSD: SM256C (Samsung)

Display: LTH133BT01A03 (Samsung)

I guess I'm lucky! :D

Bought mine from Apple Online Store, Canada.

13 inch, core i7, 256 gig

SSD : Samsung
Panel : Samsung

Lucky me

11" i5 128, CTO (because of keyboard)

All Samsung:
LTH116AT01A04
SM128C

Only thing is I am a bit worried now about the size, I'm finding it smaller than I thought and I may go for the 13" instead. But I'm not looking forward to go through the lottery again. I don't care at all about the SSD brand but the Samsung screen is important to me.
