Hello all I recently purchased a used MBA on ebay. I received the item with a power cord ordered since the item didn't come with one. Anyway it was working well and everything was fine until a week ago. For some reason it will not charge. I have tried different outlets and it just won't charge all of a sudden. The MBA works just fine it turns on and functions normally it just won't charge. The battery is indicating it needs service or replacement which I would agree with assuming it's the stock battery that came with the device but will that solve the issue? Should I return it? I have researched this topic on Google and none of the solutions work I have tried warming up the power brick etc NOTHING. ANY HELP IS APPRECIATED.

Did you try a purchasing a new charger. If this doesn't solve it, then get a new battery at Apple. Download the Coconut app to test how many charge cycles your battery has undergone and its life expectancy.

Well I purchased a refurbished charger from eBay which worked for a week. It's apparent the battery needs changing but I will try the app just to see. I was really enjoying the device too.

does this pretty much mean I need a new battery?

Well the MBA is responding when being charged on other chargers so thankfully it appears it was the charger. I ordered it online and it was a refurb so you win some you lose some. I've ordered an official apple power cord and it's on the way.

Been There

My 2011 MBA had the same exact issue this past November. Over a period of about a month the battery got worse and worse to the point where it would not hold a charge either and Coconut Battery told me the same thing yours did. Since mine was out of warranty, I wound up paying the local Apple Store about $130 to have a new one put in. I didn't leave it plugged in 24/7 and neither did I really use the battery that much. But still it died. I'd send it back if I were you, unless you're prepared to eventually pay for a new battery. I'm the original owner of mine and have the charger that came with it when I bought it from the Apple Store. Even though you're getting the battery to respond now, I'd still be wary of it. Good luck.

I have a MBA 2011 too and Fall 2013 it stopped charging. It was the charger. I bought a new charger full price at Frys for $79.99. I'm just glad it wasn't my MBA.
